Gangster Gypsies, How I Became Their Prey, A Story of Treasure, and Racketeering
It is time for me to tell my story. It’s been more than a decade since my encounter with a group of gangster gypsies who almost scammed me and my television production crew in a web of deceit and bribery.
Why have I waited so long to tell what happened?
That is a question many will ask. It’s a question leading to multiple answers. First and foremost, my pride contributed to my reluctance to write about what happened. I’ve always relied on my keen sense of perception when I meet others for the first time. I’ve honed my sixth sense to be accurate when assessing people. But when I’m wrong about them. If they turn out worse than I had assumed, then I’m filled with self-doubt. That feeling is a detriment to my work. It becomes a roadblock to what I need to do, in my business, and my personal life.
Another reason besides my fear of admitting in this story I screwed up. Is my fear of what the story may bring after it’s read and shared.
I had a TV series and two popular websites that were visited by more than a million people each year. I’ve written hundreds of articles and a dozen books about metal detecting and treasures lost and found. Not to brag, but those accomplishments, have led to an internet presence. But my personal life is a private one. And I like keeping it that way. I especially do not want to draw negative attention to me or my family. I have often thought. “Would writing this story bring that negativity?” It may. And that is the dilemma I’ve struggled with. However, there is a strong counter reason why I must write this story. And that reason is to expose the corruption within the metal-detecting/treasure-hunting community.
It's A Huge Criminal Enterprise
The metal-detecting hobby and treasure-hunting are ripe with criminals. It’s a huge criminal enterprise. And many of the thieves are the least expected. Crooked politicians, the corrupt government, lawyers, police, FBI officials, and big business have had their greedy hands on State, Federal, and personal treasures. The stealing of treasures by our government goes back to the founding of America. I will have Special Reports on those activities in the future.
